Get Involved in the Shawnee High (OK) Alumni Association
There are easy ways to become better connected with SHS Alumni and associated news and activities. Consider the following ideas for things that might be of interest to you.
Join the Shawnee High (OK) Alumni Association Facebook Social Media Group
Join our Shawnee High (OK) Alumni Association Facebook Group. It is a private group and posts are only visible to members of the group. Membership is open to all prior attendees of Shawnee High School, Oklahoma.
To request membership, navigate from your Facebook account page to Shawnee High (OK) Alumni Association and ask to Join. When your request to join is received, one of the group administrators will verify that the request is from a SHS alumni and approve membership. We do receive and filter out requests that are not from alumnus.
By participating in our Facebook Group, you’ll be able to stay current on current SHS Alumni happenings as well as stay connected with other SHS alumni, regardless of where they are.
Update Your Profile on classreport.org
Classreport.org is a commercial web site which provides a database of graduating high school classes. It is not affiliated with the SHS Alumni Association but it is a great way to stay in touch with other SHS alumni.
Every Shawnee High School graduating class has a listing but many of them are sparsely populated with current information. By updating your current information in classreport.org, your classmates will be able to see what you’ve been doing since high school. Each class year can have its own information administrator. Information is generally restricted to members of each class year but can be shared at their request.
To navigate to classreport.org click this highlighted text. When you reach the site select Oklahoma, Shawnee, Shawwnee High School, and your graduation year. There will be an entry for your name. If you have not previously registered and entered any information into your profile, it will simply show your name. To update your profile, click the click here to register link and create your account. After rigistering, you can update your information and view the information entered by other alumni from your class.
Add Your E-Mail Address to Our Mailing List
Add your e-mail address to our mailing list. We use our mailing list to announce upcoming events and news of general interest to SHS Alumni.
To add your address, send us an e-mail at shawneehighokalumni@gmail.com. Be sure to include your name as many e-mail addresses don't reflect the actual name of the sender. Include your graduating class year so we can tailor communications that are class year specific.
We do not share e-maill addresses with any other person or organization. They are strictly for communication by the Alumni Association.
Organize a Reunion Event for Your Class or Alumni Group
As the years go by, significant anniversary dates come at different times for different classes and age groups. The SHSAA may be able to help with scheduling and logistical chores for your reunion planning.
The SHSAA periodically organizes group reunions such as "decades" partties. We have experience and ties to help with items such as meeting place, food, and entertainment. We can offer assistance ranging from simple advice to online admission booking and event facilitation. To learn more, send us an e-mail at shawneehighokalumni@gmail.com.
Since its formation, the SHSAA has concentrated on supporting SHS graduates with scholarships to be used for higher education. Scholarships are granted yearly at the SHS awards ceremony.
Our funds have been raised primarily through proceeds from reunion events and spirit clothing sales. In the future we hope to expand our fund rasing efforts and to support additional projects such as Vocational-Technical truition grants and school supplies for the less fortunate Shawnee students. We have restructured our fund raising such that donors can specify where they would like their contributions to be applied. Donations can be made by check or online. The SHSAA is designated as a tax exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Tax Code and by the State of Oklahoma. All donations are eligible for tax deduction.
